Default HD fix the leaking master cylinder issue??

Just got my 2013 FXDB back from the dealer after wrecking it. It's all pretty again, but I discovered something. It took a long time to get it back and when I asked why, they told me the front brake master cylinder was the hold up (on back order apparently). It wasn't damaged in the wreck, but was leaking from the cover like so many do. Looking over the ordered parts and received parts lists, the part number for the master cylinder is different now. The ordered part ended in 11-C. The received part ends in 11-D.

Sorry if this is old news. The guys in the shop were surprised by the different part number.

Can’t say if a slight change in part numbers would be a complete change in part? Chances are the part has been modified or a new supplier has been retained...

Not sure of your brake fluid type, I've got DOT 4 in the touring bike and Dot 5 in the Dynas (02 and 05). Does the newer M/C have different "o" rings in it for a different fluid?

FWIW, Different years for different models, but all models were using DOT4 by 2007

I have read that the cover leaking was usually caused be a failed top cover seal. Since the part number change was minor, I'm wondering if a new seal design was incorporated. I have the old master cylinder. Maybe I'll take a few minutes and pop the lid off the new one and compare the seals.

Wasn't there a recall to replace the front brake master cylinder a few years back? I know I received that, and talked to my local dealer about it. My 2012 Switchback's isn't leaking, so they told me to keep an eye on it and if it starts leaking, to bring it in and they will replace it. Apparently the recall has no time limit on it.

Usually when numbers have a letter behind, ABCD, etc.. Them means is an OEM upgrade or New supplier of the part and it most cases an improvement over the original
