I have seen numerous articles across numerous mediums describing putting old 18mm exhaust systems on new 12mm platforms with relative ease.
What I was wondering was if that could be done in reverse. Given California's new exhaust DB laws, my desire to move back has be concerned about the V&H Side Shots that were on my bike when I bought it, so I am looking for a used option to go on my 09 Super Glide. The only thing I have been consistently finding is pre-2005, Softail, or 2017. I am perfectly willing to put a 2017 pipe on my bike (Found a Low Rider S pipe for 50obo) but I don't know if it would even work.
Okay. So, to take this a bit further, would it be possible to use 12mm O2 sensors on my 09 or would the ECU not register them?
You can make tthem fit with a reducer, whether or not theyll register with your ecu I cant tell you. But given the fact that most Dyna pipes are listed as for 99-05 or 06-17, I think itll work. Another option is a tuner thatll make your o2 sensors open loop, then just plug the holes.
See my post from a couple of years ago at https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...n-my-fxdc.html
to see how I handled this issue. I put Vance and Hines Switchback Duals for a 2012 FXD on my 2010 FXDC and have been running this setup trouble free since. I hope this info proves helpful in your case.
