Thanx buddy. As I said I really would do a motor job right now but the days are counted here. Next fall or winter that's for sure. You said that swapping the stock rockers for S & S did improve your bike performance ? I definitely have a breather prob since black oil is coming out from the front cylinder breather nipple contaminating the air filter. I had to remove both breather hoses and plug the holes in the air filter to avoid cleaning the filter once a week.
Last winter's project included S&S 509 cam and new style HD breathers, so since I had to remove the rocker covers anyway I pulled the pushrods out the top and reused them. Whole top end is stock. Point was not to go solely by the pushrods to figure if it's stock..
Not to turn this into a cam thread but I love the 509 in a TC88. Was riding yesterday on a two lane that goes down into a small creek valley with uphill sharp turns marked 15 MPH. Get the bike at about 2800 RPM hitting them and it blasts around and up like its *** is on fire. Wind it out over 4k cresting the hill, upshift and BAM right back on the fat part of the torque curve hitting the straight. It's just so much fun.
