Sunpie Daymaker and CANBUS
Ive just ordered one of those Sunpie daymakers for my 2016 FXDL Lowrider which has a Canbus electrical system. I have seen the odd thread about issues with error codes and red light dash lights coming on.
I already have LED Motogadget bullet rear indicatirs and Joker Machine front indicators which both work fine upart from the dash indicator arrows flash fast.
Anyone put a Sunpie LED daymaker on a 2016 FXDL? Any issues?..apologies if this is an old topic if so please steer me to the thread.

As you've already upset the balance of your Canbus system by fitting LED indicators without load equalisers and pulled the trigger on purchase, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just fit the Sunpie and see where you lie thereafter. LED load equalisers for your indicators are readily available and quite easy to fit. You would need two as it is a Canbus system. I bought mine from Thunderbike. If you need help fitting as I too am in Dorset I could possibly assist if the need is there?

As I said the dash signal arrows still blink fast which I understand is a warning signal like if a bulb has gone. Maybe I need another for the front indicators to stop this?.
It doesnt really bother me and I have been told that it is not dangerous in terms of the electrical system. If I need to get another equaliser then so be it but there not cheap!
I must admit the Sun pie high beam issue does concern me...the stock headlights are not too bad..much better than the XL 883 Iron I had before. Cant help but wonder if its worth it.!!
Without Canbus you will get away with a single load equaliser for all four indicators but with Canbus you need two. The front one is the cheaper of the two and easier to fit from an electrical perspective as it only has three wires not five. I fitted the second at the frame fork neck. Quite difficult getting access to the wiring as mine was buried inside the bars and the connectors under the fuel tank. Should in the unlikely event you have an indicator fail you wouldnt know about it without constant physically checking. If you need a hand you know what to do!

Did you encounter any 'foggy conditions' on the way home from the Harley-Davidson Dealership bike meet tonight? Sunpie was experiencing misting on the inside after fitting in today's heat.
(Small World, transpires the OP is a mate of mine who didn't realise I was on the forum. We did laugh when we discussed his potential Sunpie issues on the phone earlier today and I stated there was a guy on here experiencing the same conundrum and it turned out to be him I had responded to.)
Yes great wide to Mudeford Quay...a cold beer and fresh sea air. The light is still fogging up. I have just emailed the seller, so will see what they say. Unfortunately it was twilight by the time I got home so didn't get a true idea of the light. Tonight I will check it out...

Anyway..back to the Sunpie ..just taken it off and removed all 4 breathing tabs put it in the oven at 90 until it was almost too hot to handle and then put the tabs straight back on.
Hope this method works K9F !
If it doesn't I have read one guy took one tab off permanently and said he never had an issue since..
I have also heard on Utube that some of the HD daymakers fog..and they don't like replacing them !!...not surprised the amount they cost...anyway back to the garage!!
