Thinking about first Harley - 2013 Super Glide Custom
Hey all,
New to the Harley world. I've worked in Japanese motorcycle sales for about four years now and just started getting the itch to get a Harley. Wondering about what you all think. Obviously only so much you can give me based on description, but I thought I'd try. We took in a 2013 Super Glide Custom with 22,000 miles on it. It looks clean aside from oxidization on the front forks. Working in the Japanese bike industry, we all kind of drink the kool-aid of "Anything but Japanese bikes are unreliable and a money sink", but I've always been fascinated with Harley's. With my employee pricing, I can get the Super Glide for around $6800 after tax, not sure if it's a good buy or if I"m getting myself into something that will end up breaking my bank.
Again, I can't expect too much as it's all based on description alone, but I thought I may as well try.
Thanks guys

I own a 2013 Superglide Custom. I would say as long as it is a straight bike with no damage history you are getting a very good deal. The 96 cubic inch engine is very reliable with ample power for the weight of the bike. Check the integrity of the battery and replace it if it’s original. Same goes for the tires. Change all the fluids and ride it like crazy. The amount of things you can do to make it yours is limitless. Or don’t do a thing and ride it for a year and sell it for a profit. Post some pics if possible. Good luck!

$6800 is a very good price for a 2013 SG Custom assuming it is in good cosmetic condition. Clear coat deterioration on the front lowers from bugs and road sprinkle is not uncommon.
I have several brands of bikes, especially BMW. This H-D, as most modern H-Ds, is a fine motorcycle. It is very reliable and very low maintenance. Nothing else beats it on those scores.
The SG Custom can be made into anything you want it to be. Do some searches on this forum and you'll turn up many options.
Some mild engine hop-ups are very inexpensive, as are suspension upgrades, and they yield very dramatic results.
Jumping the 96 inch motor up to a 103 (or 107) is a very economical affair.
