The more I ride the bike, the better I like the shocks. I guess I was used to a very spongy feeling with the stock shocks.

I put the 1310-1666 shocks on my SB and I'm pretty happy with them. Mine are adjustable from 11 to 12" . I set mine up to the stock height of 12" . I recommend them. Their well made, and priced right.

I went to a large bike night on Saturday night. I counted 10 Fat Bobs there. Every one had the stock shocks on their bikes! Am I the only person who has this problem?

i am very surprised that no one else is dragging their mufflers with the stock shocks. Then I realized, that all 10 removed the stock mufflers and installed something shorter. So I guess that is why no one else is having this problem.

Looks likes, to fix this problem, you either have to replace the shocks or mufflers. I chose to replace the shocks.

Lansdale? If so, you definitely weren't the only one there with upgraded shocks...

(But not a Fat Bob)

UPDATE:

I now have about 2,500 miles on these shocks. They are still very stiff. Almost like riding a hard tail. And this is riding two up.

I would not recommend the Heavy Duty version of these shocks. The Standard Duty might be just fine. I don't know, I only have the Heavy Duty version.

I weight 230 lbs and my passenger is 140 lbs. Total weight is 370 lbs and these shocks hardly move at all. Very, very stiff.

I hope this helps anyone who might be looking...

On a side note, they did solve my problem of dragging my mufflers.

Have you played with the preload setting (not the adjustable length)? From your description, you may be running with too much preload. You should take some sag measurements. Basic rule of thumb is that total sag should be about a third of the shock's total travel, then fine tune from there based on your preference and riding style.

I did take the sag measurements. The sag is about 1/2" with two people on the bike. The preload is on the lowest setting. These shocks probably work great if you are pulling a trailer or you are very big/heavy person. They are extremely Heavy Duty.

Maybe, some people just like a firmer ride. So they might great for some riders. They might go up on eBay shortly. I like a softer ride. The stock shocks were a bit too soft for me, but the main reason I replaced the stock shocks were they made the bike too low and I was constantly dragging the mufflers on right hand turns. So I had two choices. (1) replace the stock shocks with 1" longer (13" vs 12") shocks or (2) replace the stock mufflers with shorter ones. I liked the look and sound of the stock mufflers, so I went for the shocks.

Which ones are you referring to?

I was looking at the Burly Brand shocks. 13" But I did not like the red spring. I have no red on my bike. Even my red stop lights are blacken out.
