Hi, I have a 06 street bob. I know I have to get a shock spanner wrench to adjust the shocks on my bike....few stores have them in stock. But when I do get it how do I tighten or loosen the shocks? Does it click when it gets to a new setting or is it a quarter turn? How many settings does it have. Reason i need to do this asap is my wife now rides with me and we keep bottoming out when we hit bumps. .... and no she is not huge she is 115 and im about 180. Can anyone help???
You can use a pair of yellow dish washing gloves to get a good grip and rotate the adjuster. There are five settings, and it clicks into each position.
i use a strap wrench if you buy a wrench which i have came with new shocks, don`t make the mistake of spreading it out do two holes that are side by side, and just twist its hard but it will click there are 5 pos, factory usually is set at 3 kinda in middle when i ride with wife i crank it up to 5
Another quick question, ok i just adjusted my shocks. to clicks to the right for both sides. So i figured im at setting 5 now because wideglidebob said factory usually sets it at 3. Ok well just for kicks i tried to click it to the right one more time and it did click. does this mean it wasnt at the highest setting or does it just keep clicking over and over, i wonder what the best way to truly know what setting it is at is?
Once you are at position 5, it will get really hard to go any further. That's not say that it won't. What happens is that if you are in position 5 and force it another turn, it will drop back into position 1. It doesn't hurt anything if that happens. Turning left.......once you get to position 1, you aint going no further.
Keep playing with it. You'll figure it out. I ride my WG solo in 1 and two upin 5.
okjust so everyone knows, my setting was at 1 that why the wife and i kept bottoming out. I took both sides down to one and then brought them both up to 4. little stiffer ride but my wife doesnt feel like every bump on the road is going to shoot up her butt now lol thanks everyone for the help
