any y'all ever experience either the death wobble or tank slapper condition, on your dyna? especially wondering about this on earlier models like '01, 02' 03' model years up until the fatter tires became stock in 09' I believe with the 160 tire size.
Not on my '05 Dyna, but have experienced it on another bike. Looking back, I contribute it to the weight I had over and some out past the rear tire. Seen that video before..... pretty ugly.
Common issue when exceeding the limits of the bikes design...lots of threads on it, numerous fixes depending on the bike, easiest is replacing your front motor mount with a quality aftermarket one, stock is junk...even when new...then replacing your junk stock suspension (both front and rear)..then tires, steering head bearings etc etc....
but you you need to know which one it is...wobble or weave...
My '14 FXDC Super Glide Custom would do a weave whenever I pushed it hard in a high speed sweeper. First time it happened I damn near did soil my boxers. Once I realized it was just part of the Dyna design, I just relaxed rolled the throttle back off a little bit, and rode it out.
I eventually put new front wheel bearings, new rear wheel bearings, new steering head bearings, new tires, (and I'm **** about tire pressure), still had it.
When did this first become a thing? And on what bikes? I don't think I'm buying the heavy in the back explanation. Dude wasn't leaning back and alot of people carry more stuff than that or all the people that rides two up. Look at all the choppers from the 60s.
I've never had it happen to me and I've never made up my mind as to why it happens.
