Hi All, I am looking to increase the height of my 03 FXDWG. Adding +2" over forks and new longer shocks. This leads to my question. Of the three shocks below which do you think work the best? I'd prefer chrome, but two of the three do not come in chrome at the length I want 13.5"
Drag Specialties 1310-1201 13 in (only shock to come in chrome)
Progressive 412-4083B 13.5 in (Black shock)
Burly Brand Stilletto B28-1253 13.5 in (Black with short red springs shock)
Any reviews, likes/dislikes of these three shocks? I'm 205 lbs and mostly ride solo, so looking for standard springs.
Got a set of drag speciality 12in on my 01, far superior ride than the factory shocks! Just did over 7 hundred miles in 2 days last week thru Blue Ridge Parkway and rode well... Comfortable and handled well. That's my 2 cents..
But if you haven't already done the front? Do them soon.
In all honesty save up for good rear suspension if your going to do it! youll be much happier. Legends makes the Regular Revos for 750 in 13 inch and they have the new ARCS that are 14 inch. They are big money but honestly one of the best shocks you can run imo. I have sold a few of the Drag ones here at my shop and for the price its better than stock but still nothing special.
The original owner put Progressive 440's on mine. The 440 is the predecessor to the 444s. I wasn't to impressed with them at first, but I contacted Progressive and they told me I the previous owner had the preload set way to high for me. I set it correctly today and it made a world of difference. I don't know what the OEM shocks were like, but I'm now happy with these.
