I am a new owner of a 07 street bob(I take delivery next week)
I am having the foward controls done now will do exhaust in next month or so.
I am thinking about vance and hines BSS exhaust.(but one never know's)
Now I keep hearing about a stage 1 upgrade can someone explain this to me.
Also is there something else I will have to get done when I do the exhaust.
I.E. air filter, remapping of the fuel injection.
Thanks for the help
By the way here is a cell picture when I purchased the bike.

Ok my second question
when doing the exhaust
Do you have to do the air filter and remapping
at that time? Not that I wouldn't do it I am just curios
jim
Depends on what you have done. If you put just slip on mufflers on, and no A/C Stage 1 kit, then no re-mapping is required. If you go with a full exhaust system, like the BSS, you really need to get the A/C uprade and some fuel management piece, such as a V&H FuelPak, Power Commander, SERT etc. The bike runs lean from the factory, and any upgrade (exhaust, air) will increase air flow, causing the bike to run even leaner. You will experience lots of exhaust popping and backfiring when you let off the throttle. Plus, you can damage the vales because a lean running bike is a very hot running bike.
You can just add exhaust and leave the air filter and mapping alone. Itwill pop on deceleration and it won't run AS good as it will apon completeing the entire stage 1 upgrade. Me personally...I say all or nothing. Plus these 07's are running HOT from the factory. Stage 1 will add some performance, some great sound, and allow the motor to run a lot cooler. By the way...CONGRATS!
Thank for explaining it to me.

Although this is probably the most expensive way to do it, it is definately the best way. Have the dealer install everything andhave it dyno'd. Keeps your bike under warranty!!
With the new bikes having O2 sensors, can the mods he is talking about (minus the PCIII) be done without paying for the HD ECM download? I REALIZE it won't run as well as having it dyno'd, but he can't do that until he gets some miles on the motor. Before the O2 sensors, if you wanted these mods, you had to go with the map to carry you over until you could dyno, so I am curious if that has changed.
Not that I'm aware of. I too have the V&H BSS, and they have the O2 sensors in them, plus the SE Stage 1, and it was running like crap. You don't need the HD re-map if you install some fuel manager like the FuelPak or PCIII or SERT.
