I recently bought a 14 street bob and love it. Im having troubles finding neutral when the engine is running at a stop. Ive been adjusting my clutch pack and lever to try to fix it, but cant seem to. I feel like I can only fully disengage the clutch if the lever is way too stiff. I also have some forward pull still if the clutch is pulled all the way in. I currently backed out the set screw on the under the derby cover 1/2 turn. Any help? Should I back out more, or less? Ive read articles on this but cant seem to figure it out.
Anytime on a bike I've not been able to adjust the clutch I've always back off all adjustments and started over from scratch following the manual to a T. Even on a bike I've done it dozens of times on. When I do my street bob I adjust the clutch pack and then the cable even if it's just to take a bit of slack out.
2014 bikes have self adjusting primary chain tensioners. What they actually do is over tighten the chain, which makes it almost impossible to find neutral. Replaced mine with a Hayden Tensioner some 65,000 miles ago. I can click it into neutral as I'm rolling to a stop every time.
When I know I am going to do a clutch adjustment it's done before any engine/ primary heat gets in the cases. I've found the videos on this procedure vary just as much as some inputs do from websites. If you don't have an owners manual (O/M). I believe you can go on HD website and down load one for your make and model, lot's of info in the O/M.
