I have a 2001 Dyna fxdxt and cannot find any information on the torque sequence for the inner primary cover. My clymers manual has the torque specs, but not sequence. I was told that a bead of rtv silicone should be put on the o-ring between the cover and engine. Does anyone know this to be true?
If you had torque sequence for the transmission top cover that would also be helpful.
Thank you for any and all information

1 - bottom, left of trans shaft, 2 top left of starter, 3 top right corner, 4 left lower, 5 - top left. (25-27 ft-lbs) As for a bead of RTV Silicone . . . new gasket and NO RTV SILICONE! make sure the inner seal is facing the right direction (or it WILL leak) and apply some grease on it for smooth installation.
Jeez, I took the time to go to the shop, drag out the FSM and look up the info. I could have taken the time to drink a beer, but no, I gotta help a New Member . . . then have a beer. And what do I get if from the New Member return? NOT EVEN A THANK YOU. If ya ask for help, at least have the common courtesy to acknowledge it was useful.
PS
fxdup and mud . . . glad you liked the info, hope it was useful for ya
I checked this forum multiple times yesterday and no one had replied, so I asked a tech at a local shop for the information. I appreciate you taking the time to look up the info and respond to me. However, the information that you gave me is inaccurate. My bike is a 2001 Dyna and does not have inner primary bolts near the starter and the torque specs are lower than what you described. The tech that I asked owns and operates a very well known bike shop and had 6 Dynas being worked on in his shop. He told me that he uses a bead of rtv silicone on the engine o-ring, given his experience and knowledge I took his word on it.
Sorry if you were offended that it took me more than 24 hours to respond. I was unaware that anyone had replied to my question.
We always start in the middle and go top bottom in a staggered pattern to the left first, then from center and finish going to the right if that makes sense lol
