First off, I used the search feature to the best of my abilty to research this topic beforehand, without much luck:
13,000 miles and the front tire is really starting to show significant wear and cupping. I would like to go a pinch wider on the front to fill out the fender well. I found a Metz ME880 110/90H-19 for $99.00. Anyone runnning a slightly wider tire like this on thier 19" rims (mine are spoked)?
While I'm on the tire subject, I'm ready for my 3rd rear tire; the SE 180 is not a good choice if you have to travel on gravel daily as I do. I managed to get 5000 miles on it and it is now been reduced to a slick. I really like the look and ride of this tire but can't afford to buy 2 -3 tires each year! Metzeler also makes a 170/60-17for the rear. I can get this for$136. Anyone have arear view pic of this tire mounted on thier '06 - '07 Dyna?
No but I'm glad I'm not the only one who eats rear tyres, mine is being replaced after 4000 miles from new ... a lot of rough roads near me too. I'm staying with the stock first time around after reading up ... its supposed to be harder than the alternates plus its supposed to be v difficult to take the wheel off the first time so i'll let the stealer do it this time.
i have the standard sized metzler and i LOVE it, you won't be disappointed, regarless of the size.
as for the rear, i to am gonna go to the 170 metzler soon. i am currently running a dunlop qualifier in 180/55 and while it is VERY sticky and confidence inspireing in the corners, it's a little too sticky.

I've seen this tire on a Sportster with 19" front. You almost need a feeler gauge to measure the air gap between the sidewall and the fender support, but it does fit (the Sportster).
I just put the exact set up on my 06 this weekend, i really like how the 110 90 19 looks on the front. I put the 170 60 17 on the rear, i hope it is as much as an inprovement as i hear. I will have better feedback in a couple of days.
Thanks folks! For some reason I only saw Matt's post. Sounds like this is the set up for me. Hopefully I can make it to Sturgis and have it changed out while I'm there...
My 06 FXD handledlike **** on the orig Dunflops. Would'nt hold the road on corners. Followed ruts bad. Just general crap. I hated the bike. I put Metzlers on and it is a whole new bike and I'M SERIOUS. I was about to get rid of the bike and now I love it. I can corner hard and tight. Doesn't follow road grooves, tar snot, bridge grate, nothing. Best tire I have ever ridden on. I put Vennom's on my Chopper but it isn't finished yet. If I don't like them the Chop will have Met's as well!
Edit: awww nutz, u can't curse on here. Sorry!
OH ya, Met's sizes are narrower so do your homework on widths. You have to buy wider.

Hey Boogie,
that's the same thing i'm planning. My rear tire is pretty much a slick too...(stock tire...8500 miles) I'm going to try to make it to duluth and back (2-up) and then to sturgis to change both tires. I really think I may be pushing my luck on the rear tire so I may end up changing it out before that (which sucks because you can usually get some decent tire prices at the rally)
i'll probably try the metzlers me880's
