Next question. I assume these are fuel vents, and it looks like one connects to the bottom side of the fill cap. Where does the other one tie in? I see there's a port that looks like a hose barb, pointing directly down, on the aft side of the carburetor, with nothing connected to it. Is that where it connects?
The two front ones are for a crossover line, connects the two sides below the frame when the tank is installed. The rear one should be the petcock running to the carb. If its the stock CV, the inlet should be in the left side of the carb.
Roger, I found the line running from the aft end of the tank to the carb. That makes sense about a crossover line.
So where does the other end of the vent on the underside of the fill cap connect? Or does it not connect anywhere, and just sit inside the tank?
the vent under the fuel cap doesnt connect to anything, there should also be one on the front of the tank by the top that connects to a vent tube that runs down the backbone
Progress is slow without the manual to refer to, but moving forward nonetheless. Tonight the V&H exhaust was removed, air cleaner removed, and started disconnecting some of the wiring harness. Have to pick up some tools from the shop tomorrow to keep moving forward.
Interesting to see if any improvements were performed inside that Cam Chest, seeing as the Carb & backplate have been changed.
I noticed the change originally in this pic
I'm not familiar with a cam chest, but I agree, I'm curious to see what may have been modified. The Screaming Eagle plug wires and carb plate seem to suggest something has been done. I'm hoping to pull the carb off today, but I can't make sense of the two bolts that mount the air cleaner bracket to the heads. It looks like an oil port or something under each rubber cap, and then the bolt head is underneath that. I wasn't able to find much about it online.
