Doing a bar swap on my FXDLS and this connector on the right side hand control got hung up while coming out and got pretty chewed up. My problem is Im having trouble tracing what the single wire in the cluster is for. Anybody knowledgeable enough to help me, I can't seem to find the correct schematic. Furthermore, should this be recrimped or can I get away with soldering? Local indies, and stealerships are useless for keeping anything minor yet used often in stock. And how my local indie stays in business when they look at me like ive got 10 heads everytime i bring up my bike that was made after 1985 is beyond me. And the local electrician supply stores are closed because the ronas.
I don’t have my manual with me right now to tell you where it goes, but you’ll be hard pressed to solder it and still be able to get it to fit and lock in the connector housing. Also it isn’t easy to crimp that connector so it will fit unless you have the correct crimp tool.

Ive got enough electrician friends that can help with the crimp job its the figuring out 100% what the wire goes to exactly so that I can figure out the right size replacement. Any portion that the solder would be i'm not sure would even effect the closing of the clip.

Doesn’t matter what it goes to. It’s a standard molex mx150 female connector. And if the crimp/solder is any different than this shape, it will not fit/fit well in the connector housing.

See thats the thing is the size is not standard i believe since this female is smaller than the female connectors I just had to order for the TBW.
Note that you are looking at the underside of the connector, the side opposite the latch.
And just to say, if your dealer doesn’t stock these connectors, you need to find a different dealer. These JAE connectors are used in every modern Harley. They should have plenty of these pins and connectors in stock.

I thought it was run/stop.
Crazy to say that I didn't even brute this one out. I took the pin out of the connector and then noticed the fray which is probably from the previous owner's bar swap. Im first to take blame for my screw ups like i did with the TBW(which was the only one that got hung up coming out) but this, came out in one piece.
I won't be the one recrimping the wires, ive got an electrician friend that does his electrical work on his own bike to just help me with this quick fix.
And as for the local dealer not stocking these, I said the same thing. They didn't stock the pins for my TBW which I had to order to my house. And the guy I mainly deal with was equally astonished they weren't in stock.
Ok, well sucks that the PO left it that way for you. That could have ended up as a very unpleasant road side breakdown at some point. Good to get it sorted now.
