Bought a 2013 FXDC with only 1100 miles at a great price.
Bike totally like new.
Pretty much stock except for Bassani exhaust (see Pic)
Back pipe was blued bad when I bought it farther down than it should be.
It gives that pop, pop pop when you back off and once in a while a LOUD one.
Noticed to upgrade on air intake, so I put on a Big Sucker kit to complete stage 1 upgrade.
Took it to the dealer and they put in the stage 1 map.
Still doing the louder backfire once in a while and the pop pop pop when you back off.
I have had more than my share of Harleys starting in 1966 on. But I always kept them stock.
So this is a new thing for me and you know how you want to get your mind right LOL.
Not sure what to do.
Now they want 800 too dyno it. 1200 for going back to stock pipes.
they may be chuckling cause this is normal, I have heard the pop pop pop and louder back fires coming from a few nice sounding bikes.
I love the sound, but the bluing concerns me. Since it was used from an HD dealer the original owner could have put on a used set. Any opinions
?

Get a Power Vision tuner, then take it to a reputable dyno tuner. The bike has a tuning issue, and it needs to be professionally addressed. By professionally I don't mean a HD dealer.
Get a power vision from fuel moto. They will load a map for your bike based on how it is set up. If you want to tweek it, you can run some auto tune sessions to dial it in more. They offer lifetime support if you get from them. This is really all that is needed for a stage 1. You can thank me later...
I may be mistaken but that looks like a Rinehart exhaust, doesnt really matter since you can always get some new mufflers to replace the blue ones. Bluing happens with improper tuning.

Based on your pics, it looks like the bluing is on the mufflers. You can replace those and keep the rest of the exhaust. I wouldnt replace them till you get the bike tuned properly cause it will happen again. Get the power vision and be done with it.

The other guys gave you good advice on the tuner. In your initial post you mentioned going back to stock. You may want to look in the classified section here and post in the WTB section for a complete stock system. Not sure on the Dyna's but these come up in the touring section all the time. That would be a hell of a lot cheaper route to take if you have a desire to go back to stock.
