I own a Super Glide Custom 2005 FXDCI and want to lower the rear a bit for the looks.
I noticed recently that when I purchased it I got Progressive Suspension 412 12" with it.
If I put these on, how much lower will it get? After google'ing a bit it seems as the stock suspension is 12,6" so that makes it half an inch in difference.
Sorry if I do this the wrong way but im new here and also a pretty new Harley-owner as well.
It depends on where you start from but with those two the 12" shocks will lower the rear around 2.5-3"
I will say that 12" 412s are a little stiff, but if you already have them, might as well try them
I start from scratch. I have all original stock parts on now.
Will the change to these 412 12" be a visible change?
My worry is just that i would want even shorter ones after i already put these on. I will need to use some connections to help me so i want to be satisfied and not having to redo anything hehe.
I have done shorter than 12" as a lot of people on here have as well. I'll warn ya, it looks cool but you'll find yourself bottoming out on driveways and parking lot entrances. Also, you lose a lot of the ability for the shocks to travel once that shock gets past a 45 degree angle to the ground. The angle of force is just wrong.
I weigh about 150 ibs and always ride solo. Looks like im gonna try these 12" and see and feel the result first, before i go lower.
If i want to lower more, do you recommend 11" shocks instead of the 12" or the 12" and maybe a LA Chopper lowering kit?
Okey! No, cost isnt a problem though i want to get away as cheap as possible but ultimately i just want to get real satisfied with my bike
I could probably sell my 12" inches progressive and buy 11" ones in case it doesnt get as lowered as i picture.
