By all means, listen to Bubba; he knows FAR more than I about motorcycles, maintenance and setup, but ..... I had the low speed "hands-off" wobble and lost it with new tires. The front was cupped. Keep your air pressure up to snuff to minimize cupping and it may go away.
The tires are not cupped but they are old enough to replace......When I do my sprocket mod I'll R an R both tires as well....check the neck bearings as well...and I have an indy in mind to do the work......
thanks for the replies
I mean the actual math that shows a correlation between wobble and rubber mounting the motor?
It's not so much that the motor is mounted in rubber as it is that the swing arm is attached to that motor and can change angles with the headstock. Push it in one direction or the other and not much happens, but if it starts to oscillate...
Just me thinking out loud. Isnt there a balance issue? Like weight on one side of the frame is more than the other. So to compensate there is the primary and such. But its still not quite there?
I have had death wobble. Turns out it was caused by the front engine mount. I replaced both front and rear engine mounts with kinetic structures engine mounts and haven't had a single problem since. I know some of the naysayers out there say the issue could be something else, but just to put this out there, I upgraded my fork springs and installed valve emulators, I replaced my rear shocks with bitubos, and put brand new tires on tront and rear and still had the wobble before I For those interested in the KS mount, I will say this, the mount is a bit stiff for about 1500 miles even though they say the break in period is sooner. But after 1500 the mount smooths out and is rock solid.
I have 2 CVO DYNA'S...never had any type of wobble. Remains one of my favorite platforms.
Both of your bikes are beautiful, especially the red one. I am looking at a dyna and know very little about them, except that this will be the first Harley in my collection and the "Dyna Wobble" nickname thing is my only concern. My brother crashed his extended fork Honda going downhill and straight from a rain grooved freeway. I have experienced it on other non-Harleys and mostly just let go of the throttle and it will damp itself out. So if it's not any different, it doesn't deserve a name for that.

Dont let it scare you off of a Dyna, I think its way over hyped. I've owned 4 Dynas and never experienced it. Matter of fact the only one that "wobbled" was my 05 and after a fall away test and adjustment to the neck bearing it was fine.

I've always believed a high speed wobble occurs when letting off the throttle suddenly. The cure being rolling back on with the throttle. Hard to do in a "pucker moment" but that's what I heard. My Dyna is 29 yrs old and never had a wobble. I had a friend once that had a "tank slapper" so bad at 110mph that one hand grip actually stuck to the tank! Pretty ugly slide for about 100yds. Grown men do cry when bone is ground away.
Mine had it, and it had it from new, so it wasn't tires, head bearings, or motor mounts.
After the first time when I nearly crapped my pants, I learned that if I just let off a little it would stop by itself, I stopped worrying it about it.
Of course, I also stopped pushing it hard in sweepers.
Honda ST1300's (called Pan European's overseas) suffers from a "Pan weave" at high speeds, usually rear suspension setup or load on the bike causing it. It caused so many accidents that the UK pulled the bikes out of police duty.
