👍👍 Curious to see how you like those.... Ive been looking into new wheels for my Streetglide and Dyna LRS. I know standard knowledge is lighter wheels = less unsprung weight and better handling on MCs and have run em on my crotchrockets..... Curious as I know Kevin from BBC has said the lightweight carbon wheels on Dynas and Baggers has been the cause of weird handling stuff when he has had guys come in and want him to chase what they thought were suspension issues. He would throw the standard mags back on the bikes and the weirdness went away. I know he has a YT video on one of the Dynas where goes a little into it.

I would like to know more about this Kevin guy.. I'd like to see more on the topic and feel the same about the weight difference and how it affects a gyrating mass..
Do you have a link? The thing is I love speed and doing 120 + really is exhilarating....

Funny you mention that, as I was just about to tie the Wheel thing into the steering damper thing; short answer: yep, a lot of what I was thinking was fork flex, I have 2" over fork tubes, or the Conti Sport Radials is the super light wheels. I ran the stock spokers for about 15k before roasting the rear hub from bad bearings ( ya wanna talk wobble, rear end swayed like a hulu dancer) and then 6 months later bending the front rim going off road avoiding T-boning an azzhat who left turned right in front me of me. After that I got a set of those cast 5 spokers from the HD catalog. Heavier than a *****'s purse the morning after Payday. handled like a freakin tank the turn in was so heavy ( got used to it) but they were twice as stable on the Freeway in windy conditions and such.
So no lie that the BSTs turn in super easy, bike is agile as a cat, stops better, quicker from a standstill and the suspension has to do less work. However you cannot have one without the other, super light turn in= super easily affected by wind, buffeting, road surface, etc. And on a bike without good engine mount stabilizers and good drivetrain alignment or marginal suspension, well Holy **** Batman, I can only imagine.
So yeah the steering damper is a big help on my bike running the Carbon Fiber Wheels. Would I do it again? Hmmm, debatable, ask me in 5k miles. But to a lesser degree, any really light wheel is going to have the same inherent issues, these suckers are just the lightest ( most expensive) out there.

Ah he be talking about Big Bear Choppers and Kevin Alsop. Took a while to find the vid he mentions. I figured this **** out on my own based on my experience with wheels on my Dyna, and unless you want to do 140mph it's not the dramatic issue Mr. Alsop makes it out to be ( guess he could again get himself into a lawsuit, this time with BST or Brocks if he got too carried away with it; already been sued over defective manufacturing ).

I have to agree.. If You want better handling make sure your chassis is set up correctly and make sure the trail for your speed is where it needs to be...
I just reduced my trail from 6.1" to 4.8".. We'll see how it affects stability at speed... But I'll have to wait for better weather and my shoulder to heal....
