Default Rear Shocks for Dyna - Economical

Hi all ! I currently have a 2013 Dyna Super Glide Custom.

I am wanting to replace the rear shocks. I would ultimately like to put Legends or Ohlins, or something in that $1000 ball park on this bike. But that's currently out of my budget. Later I will for sure.

But right now the main reason that I want to do something with the rear shocks is that the bike has, I believe, stock 12" rear shocks....
And I want to raise the rear with 13" or 13.5" shocks.

So I am considering just putting a pair of "economical" new 13" rear shocks on the bike to raise the riding position in the back... and then in another year or so, get better rear shocks, and fronts as well.

Currently I see quite a few choices in the $300-450ish price range from numerous companies. Besides raising my rear up an inch or inch and a half, I would imagine that something in this price range would AT LEAST surpass the HD stock shocks if even just slightly ! ?

So... of the various brands... Does anyone here have any recommendations for decent rear shocks in this price range, for my Dyna ?

Put 430 Progressives on wifes FXDL and 412's on my FXDF (I really wanted full chrome covers) The 430's were a substantial upgrade, the 412's, just an "improvement". Both are in your budget...

Hagons & Bitubo w rebound and preload controls use to be fair priced pre covid fair and could have resale value later.

bite the bullet and spend the 100ish for a set of springs for the front. You could be surprised how easy it's going to be to over run the front anc hoe sloppy the springs are just crusing w good and taller shocks.
. If no way to swing it,a d you work on your bike cut a couple loops off the stockers ,replace the length you cut w spacers,it will bring up the spring rate. Theirs math to it ,you can find the equation and more overall details on the internet in dirt and dual sport bike forums.. and use racetech calculator to get a ideal of target spring rate.and oil wt

Get the Bitubos. Great shocks for the money. I love mine.

Had progressive 430’s before and they were worse than stock shocks IMO.

I've used both and agree with this assessment. 412s aren't much of a noticeable improvement over stock other than possibly changing ride height. I don't know how 430s compare to others that are twice the price, but they are a big step up from the stock shocks on my Wide Glide.

Agree with above. I installed the 430's last month on the '02 LowRider and they were a very substantial improvement over stock (and didn't break the bank either.) I chose the heavy springs and like that I can adjust the preload without a tool if necessary.
