Default British Gas ?

In the UK petrol (gas) is either unleaded or unleaded super which is a bit higher in octane.
Which is best for the bike...?

I'm sure it says use higher octane in the manual. Probably best too anyway.

I think even our standard unleaded in the UK is higher octane than US unleaded so using stuff likeShell Optimax is probably overkill (as well as overpriced).

That's correct, when I asked my dealer about it he said don't waste your money just use ordinary 95.

However, as an experiment, recently I started to use 97 Super to see if it did make a difference, and I have to say I have noticed it doesn't pop and bang as much on the overrun, and my 07 does seem to run better, so I'm going to stick with using Superunleaded from now on.

Definitely super unleaded in my opinion. If you can afford a Harley whose worried about a few pence per litre difference in costs between the two and I always try and put in Shell Optimax out of personal preference.

My dealer, Thames Valley Harley in Slough, recommended putting the higher octane fuel in and I have to say that compared to the regular unleaded my bike definitely seems to run better on the super unleaded.

Now all I need to do is go over to fully synthetic oil at the 5,000 mile service apparently !
