The current condition of the bike is with an early Predator mount and stock rear. The bike is actually pretty good as far as vibes go. Slightly better than what it was as a 116, now all bore 107. As stated above I've been working to reduce vibes after doing a pretty major motor rebuild. I'd did find that when I first installed the motor I used a used front stock mound that was shot and the one on the bike when the motor blew was actually in pretty good condition. I didn't use good one but went to the Predator as it was low miles.

My first shot of trying the vibratech mounts wasn't all that favorable. I tried to follow the instructions. IIRC you can read them online.. It was vibrated real bad. Tried 0,1,2 shims. 1 was the best but still not good.

I tried the predator mount in the front coupled with the Vibratech in the rear and it was worse.

Swapped out the vibratech rear mount for a good stock one and it's where it is now. Pretty reasonable.

I'm not throwing vibratech under the bus just yet. I called them. Bad for me but I forgot the guys name I talked to.. He came up with a plan of attack and I've written it down but have not had a chance to implement it..

The suggested process.
-----
Install both mounts with 2 shims in the front.

Frame bolts tight, motor bolts loose.

Run bike upright, weight on wheels, no support of frame, me sitting on the bike. Blip throttle.

Get off bike and tighten mounts, bike weight still on wheels.

Test ride.

If not good remove one spacer.

------

I told the guy that it may be a month or 2 before I get to it. There is other work I need to do on the bike plus I'm rebuilding another and would like to get it back together. It's had issues and is going slow.. On top of that I've come down with a cold from hell.. I've had it for right on 1 month and there are days it seems to be getting better but then it simply comes back.. On top of that, our dishwasher was leaking. It turned into a fiasco. I replaced seals and cleaned, had a repairman out, $600 to fix. I just had a new one installed and now the kitchen sink hot water only dribbles out. Sink and washer share the same valve and I have to figure that out... Still have the cold..
thank you for the reply. I might go the direction you’re at right now first, predator front, stock back. I replaced the front mount with a drag specialties, and it helped, had to shim it, bike is the wife’s, and she loves it, but it shakes her damaged hand to numbness. And after getting off my ultra couch and riding it after I changed the oil was a wake up call for me to tone the vibes down a bit.

sorry to hear of your funk. Think maybe you got the ‘rona? Either way hope it improves.

as for the dishwasher, I bet some Teflon tape or pipe dope got into the line and is clogging up that sink. Happened to me with a hot water heater after a neighbor decided to drive over my water meter. Busted the pipe, but something got into the pipe, and the hot water heater inlet was the first place that it went. Replaced that and then saw the issue. Good luck with it either way, and thanx again for the reply.

While many think that it's the vibes that make the hands go numb, I suspect it's only a very small amount. I own 6 bikes and all have different levels of vibration. For me, it more about wrist position. The bike in the avatar, was the worse, mainly because when going slow weight is on the wrist. Still certain glove and other bake had the issue just not as bad. Carpal tunnel surgery corrected that but close to 9 months and I still have soft tissue pain.

I've tested myself twice for the rona and it came up negative. Will do again today..

They guy did use tape so I figuring if I try to contact them or just fix it.. Not sure why he did. It's a braided line into compression fitting unless it leaked.

Her wrist was broken in 2014, and she has mild carpal. But even when I rode it, it was way more shakes than I could deal with for any extended time. And it’s worse than when we bought it, so I know it’s not “just me”. The bars are stock, and she has ridden hangers before but it puts her arms numb from the hands being up higher. After I replaced the front mount, which at the time was bad by the book, I replaced it, did the ‘engine settle’ by the book, and it got better. Seems to have gotten back to where it was. Buzzes the seat as well.

well, glad it’s negative, might just be that flu/RSV stuff going around.

im betting it’s either tape or he crushed the compression fitting and kinked the line inside. Not a hard fix for guys like us, but I’d call him back if it did it after he did work.

good luck with it at any rate.

well, I spoke at length to Harry at Kinetics yesterday. We had a good convo and I decided to try the front mount. I’ll keep updated on how it works out.

FWIW, The plug in the line was due to the shutoff valve rubber disintegrating when the guy shut off the water to connect the new dishwasher. Not really his fault but I'd be pissed if he knew this when he left. I was able to verify the issue, plug the faucet, back flush the line by opening both cold and hot water. I've not replaced the valve tho.. My cold turned into sinus infection, antibiotics knocking down the symptoms.. Anxious to get back to working on bikes..

There is an old saying about plumbing. "Plumbing is like drinking out of a spitoon, the more you do it, the worse it gets.. "

glad you found it, and is an easy fix. I doubt he realized it. If he did, that’s just a bit more he could a got replacing it. Hope you get back on the feet soon.

Hey Max, You ever get around to doing this? If so what did you end up with? I've got the Vibratech front, two shims, still rough, one shim, way better at idle, still rough at hwy speed. Not sure where to go from here.
