If you accept 4.9 gallons then the numbers for the light and gauge cannot be accurate. If you confirm the capacity of the tank you can come up with an accurate number for the light.

Unless someone has already done this. I guess I need to drain the tank as much as I can and confirm a no run. Add, for instance, a pint and see if it runs. Add as needed until it runs.

The light "has" kinda made me wonder. Is there only 1 "usable"/reserve gallon when the light comes on even though there should be about 2 gallons???

Thank you!
Tom

With a non fuel injected bike. You could carry a quart or so of gas with you in the city where fuel is readily available. Hit reserve and run it out again. Add your quart and find a gas station. Subtract your quart and that is how much you can "actually" use as reserve.

I'm just trying to understand why with only needing 3 gallons when the light comes on, Why does the book say I have only about 1 gallon of reserve left when the light comes on and I should have about 2 gallons??

Thank you!!
Tom
How are you filling the tank?
Are you just putting the nozzle in and when it shuts off, you think it's "full?"

Ya gotta nurse these tanks to get them at 100%.

I put the nozzle in, fill until it stops. Pull nozzle out and here in Cali I have to hold the rubber boot back. Then slowly fill, letting it burp a few times, until just about even with the hole in the sheet metal cup. This is on the stock Jiffy stand.

Thank you!
