Just plugged my vin in for the first time out of curiosity. It came up with the transmission recall and the battery caddy bolt. My question is how correct is the info. If it was done would the recall notice come up on the site. I did a search on the forum and it seems like the tranny recall was for a false neutral light. My bike is very easy to get into neutral and with 10,000 miles i am wondering if it has already been performed. I bought it used from a dealer last march so i am not really sure if it was performed.
Take it to your stealer and have him run it through the computer there. They will be able to tell if its been done or not. I am not sure how quickly they do updates on that information. I recently had both of those recalls done on my bike. I checked my VIN on the system and they are still listed as "fixes" due for my bike, when I know they are both already done.
BTW if the xmsn. fix hasnt been done.. make sure your stealer dosent try to charge you to replace the fluid.. like mine did.. (fluid replacement is PART of the recall) I dont know if its so ingrained in themthat they automatically charge for this like they do as if it were a service.. or if they were just being crooks.
The kicker of it was on my end at least was that I brought myOWN da^^ned fluid..
Tried to charge me for MY fluid... heh.. now that takes a set.. [:@]
If the recall was completed then it should not show up anymore. I know my bars were changed out before I picked up my WG and the site does not show any active recalls for my bike.
