Chain conversion question for Dynas with rear lift
Was wondering if any one could answer a few questions I have for my particular situation. I searched the forum a bit and couldnt find an answer. Im attempting to install a chain conversion on my 07 fxdb and while test fitting the sprockets and chain realized I have some interference with the inner primary most aft mounting bolt boss and chain. Also looks like the chain will rub at the upper front of the swing arm. I realize when I set the bike down off of the stand and with rider weight the angles will change some but I have close to 14 shocks and a 1 shock lift spacer and eyeballing all this doesnt look like it will clear. Ive read that people with 13.5 shocks just clears and the chain rub from bung king takes care of the possible contact with the swing arm. Any one set up like me and successfully worked around the primary contact issue? I dont mind doing a lil trimming here and there as long as safety isnt compromised. Any insight would be appreciated.
I'm running 14" Legends on my '17 FXDB with a SpeedKings 24/51 chain conversion. I get some contact at the front of the swing arm because of the passenger peg mount, and this dyna chain conversion slider chain tenssioner (bungking.com) takes care of it. What size rear sprocket are you running? Going bigger would help that clearance but may hurt the clearance issue you're having on the primary. Out of curiosity, why do you want so much height in the rear, and what have you done to the forks?
I have the 25/54 combo. I needed the extra height to give me clearance for my tail modification. I cut my struts and built a custom mount for a cafe style rear fender. Under certain compression situations like from a nasty rut or something it would rub. I also wanted a lil forward rake for looks. I have ohlins cartridges in stock height tubes.

That thing is sweet! I would think with a 25/54 you wold be ok but apparently not. Mine is +2 up front and 14's in the rear. i was on a 24/55 combo using the bungking slider and had no contact anywhere but the slider. I swapped out my 55t for a 53t but haven't run it yet. Wish I had better insight for you.
Thanks wobble. With what you and snake eyes are saying I might just put it together and see how it goes. I dont think my shocks are quite 14. Think about 13.8. With the one inch blocks Im at 14.8 so maybe it will clear all together with weight on it. We will see. Ill ask you the same if you have any close up pics of that area?
