Default EFI tuner for 2007 FXD (Super Glide)

As the subject reads, I am looking for recommendations on what I should buy for my '07 Super Glide (S&S air cleaner / drag pipes). I know there are a kagillion forums surrounding this exact question, and I know it's mainly opinion based. I am OK with this, but there are so many conflicting answers, I can't get my head around it.

Right now, I have the "COBRA Fi2000R" and its decent, but I know there are so many better options out there. I don't mind spending 500/600/700'sh bucks, but I don't want to spend a half grand (or more), and not improve anything so I am open to hearing opinions. I want more granular control, I want to be able to add/remove fuel (not just add), and I like the idea of being able to modify the ECM (or flash it I guess it's called) for things like timing, and such. I am new to EFI, so go gentle with me but I am a long 30-year biker so not new to HDs (but all were S&S carbs). I hear good things about the Power Commander 6, but I get confused with the add-ons (I think) - Dynojet Power Vision (why do I need this if I already bought the PC6)?

Thanks in advance

FWIW, I do not know the answer to your question but I have been doing EFI performance stuff on my own vehicles for the last 18 years. Unless you are changing something that makes a pretty substantial change in airflow (heads, compression ratio, camshafts), there is probably not some drastic amount of power to be found here. I know that sounds wishy-washy, but the primary reason we tune is to change the shape of the fuel map to fit the airflow characteristics of the engine, because airflow = oxygen for combustion which + fuel = horsepower. It is extremely unlikely that any air cleaner or exhaust pipe is so far outside of the available trims that this will make a meaningful difference. If it did, then your computer/stock tune would be unable to adjust even for a dirty air filter, which I can assure you that it can (along with drastic changes in temperature, atmospheric pressure, altitude, humidity, and so on). It is these fuel trims, up and down, that make EFI so great, because those minor adjustments are happening constantly. I'm sure others will be here to talk about how great their tune is and what software they use, and there's nothing wrong with that opinion. Mine is worth what you paid for it.

Power Vision will give you the most options for adjusting your motor over stock.

I second that , have a Power Vision 4 on my 2008 Fat Bob and it made a difference, bike just runs better. I just have Screaming eagle slips and air filter setup on mine liked the options that Dyna Jet had along with support from Feul Moto which is where I bought mine from .

The different DynoJet tuning products have different limitations to what they can or cannot do...

Your PC6 is a piggyback model that must be attached to the bike. It does't rewrite the ECM, but rather "adjusts" the AFR based on sensor readings, while it is attached to the bike.

The PowerVision models actually rewrite the tune in the ECM. There are different models from a full service tuner, to tuners with less tuning capabilities at a cost reduction.

The full service PowerVision tuner will do anything you could want to do to the ECM tune. It is used by many Dyno Tuners. Whether or not you need/want all those capabilities is up to you. If you are just going to go Stage I, with no other mods or changes in the future, than the capabilities of as full service tuner may not be money well spent over some of the "AFR only" adjusting tuners...

I would suggest calling FuelMoto (they work closely with DynoJet). Tell them what you have, what you want to do, and what your goals are.... they will give you a good recommendation.

I will say, right after I posted this question (then got COVID and disappeared for 3 days), but, I said f u c k, it, I'm gonna try to tune it myself. I went completely opposite of the recommendations for the tuner, and I'm pretty much surprised. I tripled almost every setting they said to do from the factory, and, wow, it's a brand new beast. I'm still looking for more hands on, EFI tech, but I'm not as unhappy with it like I was last week (if that makes sense).
