Took a few days off to complete my eng build. Perfect so far. Went through o install new piston tops. Ya, I know! Make sure you have a rag/something around the rod so nothing falls into the case. I myself don’t need to heed that sage advice cuz I been doing this for 20 years and I know what I’m doing! Right?…….. WRONG! One got away from me.
spent the next 45 minutes fishing with various magnets and finally, lookie what I pulled out! Was about to remove the case.
the moral boys N girls is don’t be a dumb **** like me. Cover the gd case.
Couple tips ? Alway stuff the spigots with clean rags whenever you pull the jugs period. Keeps the rods from banging the case sides and anything getting in. Also cut some hose or tubing to slide over the case studs, piston protect when you wrestling with them.
I have two pieces of cardboard one for each bore. Slot cut 1/2 through. Just slide around the rod. Covers nicely and keeps the rod stable. Works great but ya have to get up off the stool and get them. They don’t work as well sitting in the tool box.
