I tried it with the stock exhaust and the bike now sounds like a Honda. I have a set of slip ons that i know sound great. I am going to clean them up and install them. I'll see how the bike runs with just the slip ons. It has the stock air cleaner on it and the o2 sensors so it may be ok. We shall see. Pictures coming soon.
These are the slip ons I am working with. I forget what brand/make they are. I took the baffle out of one of them, and I ordered a pair of DK Customs 158 Thunder Torque Inserts. I plan to use the baffles AND the inserts.
I am in the process of polishing these slip ons. They look great but are not prefect. They look good enough for me!
Those are Cycle Shack mufflers. Great sound and performance. No reason to add those thunder torque inserts, unless you want to make the bike quieter and decrease performance.
They cancelled and refunded the torque inserts order, thanks for the info.
I had these mufflers on before - they have a throaty sound, not too loud. The bike has that nice growly exhaust inhale sound when switching gears that i love - like a snarl!

It will sound like a Harley again!
I have Cycle Shack slip-ons on both of my FXR'S. The Thunderheader is hanging on the garage wall as an ornament. It hangs to low and is just too loud for my ears. My tinnitus is bad enough.
I re-ordered the torque inserts. I want to experiment. I would like to make these slip-ons a little quieter. It says you can adjust the sound /tone with these inserts. We shall see!

You should change your user name to Never Done. It fits you to a T........
2 sets of baffles is 1 too many. Go with the DK baffles, they are tuneable.
I'm going to experiment with it - with baffles and torque inserts, without baffles and torque inserts. I'm not afraid of it being loud, just being finicky and want that perfect exhaust note.
