My 04 stripped the spline. The compensator spring pressure drove it enough to charge.
It was slipping enough that it finally wore a groove in the face deep enough to allow the chain sprocket to move and misalign enough that the chain made a ticking noise.

On 06 dynas and 07 up the rest of the big twins they increased the number of crank splines to fix the issue. 04s were one of the early ones with wider/Fewer splines and they had issues keeping the crank nut tight.
Here it is sorry took so long. The two piece rotor had all the bolts pulled out and they destroyed the stator.
which has happened to nearly everyone I talked to with an 06 dyna. Glad they changed to the one piece finally. Way of admitting it was a design flaw without actually them taking responsibility.
