Does anybody have pictures of how to do this? Also I'm having trouble understanding of the just the power is suppose to be on when I do it, or if the bike is actually suppose to be running. It's an 06 883c
It depends on which stator test you're doing. Are you following the Service Manual?
The ohms tests are done with power off.
The voltage test is done with the motor running. The voltage (AC volts), measured at the disconnected stator plug, should vary depending on RPM, from a low of ~20VAC at ~1500 RPM to over 70VAC at at higher RPMs.
For instructions go to the Tech Electrical section, where there are a couple of helpful stickies on testing the charging system. No pictures but helpful words!
