Think about it, two guys alone on a trip, Just coming out of the hotel, couldn't get enough, found a broken shaft and decided they had to fix it right there on the spot... Imagine what the night in the hotel was like... Lol

None of you guys ever played Parking Lot Twister on a broken bike???

The sequence of events:
The linkage broke between San Luis Obispo and McKittrick, CA on a Sunday morning. I was able to patch it with the zip ties there single handedly.
Mick skillfully was able to limp the bike about 5 miles in 4th gear on a twisty road before he got my attention and we stopped.
New linkage was acquired at Bakersfield HD, and installed.
The splines on the foot shift shaft and shift arm stripped just as we were leaving Tonopah, NV the next day.
Mick again showed amazing skill and rode all the way to Ely, NV, about 180 miles, through some of the loneliest area of America after what repair we could manage at that spot.
A beer can was acquired in Ely and we made a shim to wrap around the shift shaft in hopes we could get enough squeeze to engage what was left of the splines. Worked great. This where the Parking Lot Twister took place. It took 3-4 hands to hold everything in place while tightening the bolts.
Mick then rode from Ely to Grand Junction, CO where, after too much arm twisting, a tech there made the final, permanent repair.

May be for the best. I just realized this is in the Dyna Forum. I'm sure those that love their Dynas would like to return to normal.
