My ‘17 has a lot of suspension work, GP 25mm carts, top end Ohlins rears, predator front mount, and a fork brace. It handles great, but I always feel like the rear stock mount is still a weak link.
I’ll admit, I do enjoy comfort too, so I don’t want any of those replacement mounts that make the bike feel like a paint can shaker, so after a lot of reading I decided a new stock mount and a Sputhe stabilizer would be the way to go.
So I reached out to Sputhe to see if they sold them separately since I only saw them in sets, and they do. So I did. Hasn’t arrived yet, but when it does I’ll post the install process.
Will pull the rear wheel to try and make it easier, but I expect it’s going to be a bitch with my catchers mitt hands. We’ll see. I’ll let you know…
Mchad,
What difference did the fork brace make? Did you install it as a singular change?
I’ve been installing fork braces on bikes for +30 years. It’s become SOP for me whenever possible. Can I honestly say it makes a noticeable difference? It’s been so long that I’d have to remove it, ride it, and reinstall it to say. When I installed my first one in the early 90’s I did notice a big difference. But it wasn't a Dyna, nor a Harley, so that bike may have benefited more or less than others. But because of that experience, and the logic of strengthening the geometry being sound to me, is why I’ve used them since.
