Default Inner primary bearing race spining

Hi, I have just removed the inner primary and the clutch . The problem is that the inner primary bearing race is spinning on the shaft , I was able to remove it with my fingers... The race comes from Drag speciality . My bike is 2011 Dyna . Did you ever see that issue and what should I do to resolve this issue.

Thank you very much , looking forward to read you all .

So the bearing is spinning inside the inner primary case itself? That's not going to be a quick fix. If the bearing is spinning in the case you're going to be replacing that and if the bearing is seized to the primary shaft or damaged the shaft the transmission gearset will need to come out to replace it.

I assume that you mean this race, 34091-08? I would suggest trying an OEM race from HD. Is the transmission shaft scarred up now? The Drag Specialty race is no doubt an import, and maybe not that high of quality.

I have known guys to have put a very small single TIG weld on the edge of the race to the shaft to hold it in place. This works as long as the race isn't loose and wobbly on the shaft. Then when it needs removed, "carefully" grind the weld away. But I would get an OEM race and see how it fits. It should be a tight press fit.

If your input shaft is worn, you could install the ball bearing one. From my understanding, it slips on. Load keeps it spinning. Since the race turns freely.

Might work awhile for a round town bike.

I personally would not do it however. I would replace the input shaft.

And that is going to be expensive. Only real safe way to fix it.

At first glance there’s no wear on the shaft .When I installed it, I remember that I have to press it with the bearing race install tool and there were no loose at all, it was very tight . I really don’t understand what happened . I’ve just ordered the S&S bearing race . Finger crossed …

The bearing I was referring to is a complete bearing and race. You press it in the outer cover plus the snap ring.

That retains the complete bearing. Least it won't walk in or out.

This only if your shaft is worn from race spinning.

Be careful with the S&S race; many have busted them pushing them on to the specified torque spec. Get the race to close the gap between the race and the mainshaft/5th gear sel to .125"; install the primary and see if the seal rides on the race.

Like Ohio said, the OEM race with a bit of green Loctite should solve the problem with no drama.
