I may be the one-in-a-million, but to me, I'm the one it happened to. Used to run Autolite plugs in my cage. One day the engine very suddenly started to run rough. Pulled the plugs and one of the plug's center electrodes had fallen completely out of the plug, dropped in the cyclinder and rattled around in there. It must have broken up and got spit out the exhaust with no damage to the valve, but scored the cylinder walls. Now it burns oil. I've never used an Autolight plug since.
I've used autolite alot in my vehicles no problem.Put them in an 07 sportster seemed to run just a tad cooler. As they say some plug types will possibly run cooler or hotter then it's cross ref.By the way take a look at your HD plug compared to a champion plug??I've never liked champion plugs!
I doubt Harley manufactures plugs anymore than Wal-Mart makes their own food products with their brand name on it.
Maybe it's overkill but I'm not screwin with anything in the engine until my warranty runs out. I've been down the road before with other things where the dealer or manufacturer says "well you voided your warranty when you did this or that so we're not paying to fix it".
tried the autolite platinum recently bike seemed like it was stalling on the upper end of the rpms always wind it out no matter where I'm going, but anyway went and put the screaming eagle split fire back in it and she perked right back to life so guess that is where I'll be staying . Till i find something better of course.
Plugs do make a diff, the best thing is to try them out and see if you have any problems. The cost for plugs should not be to great so if they dont work for you no biglose.
