Using that backplate will need some creativity. You need to vent those breathers, without affecting the integrity of the air filter seal against the back plate.
With that in mind, and just looking at your back plate:
You can probably route the front cylinder from the breather bolt, out side the seal area of the air filter. You would need to fill-in the seal portion with JB weld or other good epoxy to maintain the integrity of the air filter seal. (first pic below)
I would route the rear cylinder inside the filter seal area.. You can use a special fitting to route the breather line from inside the back plate, out through and behind the back plate. (first pic below)
I have used that fitting for both breathers on the open 103 HO air filter on my Low rider (second pic below)
Since I'm not holding the air filter assembly in my hands, I can't say for sure if my ideas have merit... they are just suggestions from ideas I have used, to get your creative juices flowing...
That's a good idea & appreciate another set of eyes and ideas!
That should actually work!
Thanks!
Hi ,
4' of 3/16" tubing, one 3/16" plastic barb tee and two zip ties.
Take the tube elbows off and jam the tubing on the spouts.
Drill one hole slightly smaller than the hose barb .
Jam the hose barb through the hole.
Affix the two short tubes to the tee. On the backside of the breather attach the tubing. Route underneath the bike. I ran the tubing down and rearwards to along the brake rod. Attached with the zip ties.
Best regards
bill
Check with DK Custom website, they have kits for this mod. My 2013 RoadGlide has the 103" engine but has a round back plate and still has the "Ham Can" covering the K&N filter. There are some youtubes on this mod also. Good examples and pics have been posted.
So? Can you send pictures on how it finally came out to be? because I have the same problem and I couldnt find a good solution
Thanks !!
My Son decided to just go with the K&N air cleaner set up!
He didn't want to keep the factory look anyways.
So it was easy to just drill & tap the mounting and filled the oil "cavity" completely with silicone.
It worked out great!!!
