it seems that crap quality tools are everywhere these days no different here in Australia, days of "made in the USA" are numbered for you guys (perish the thought).

ORIGINAL: FXDC Rider

I think you're probably right on the size. I just took one of the old torx bolts and washer down the Ace Hardware, and matched them up with some chrome allen head bolts and washers.
Surprised your Ace Hardware has them in chrome...my Ace carries nothing in chrome, only stainless steel. Ended up buying them on Ebay for $1.85/each.
The two Ace Hardware's here have a LARGE selection on chrome and also carry stainless. guess it's up to the independent dealer to decide what he carries. Think I gave about the same price, but of course no shipping etc.

Well, got the derby cover off & didn't even come close to stripping any of the star head bolts taking them off or putting them back on. Word of advice...
STAY AWAY FROM GREAT NECK BRAND TOOLS & BLACK BIT HEADS ALL TOGETHER!
I bought a set of star socket bits from Ace Hardware (their brand name) & even bought another T27 bit just incase one snapped again. I let the bike warm up for about 5-7 minutes, then took each bolt off with ease. Even with the bike kick stand up on a 1x6 it still dripped just a few spots of oil, but nothing major. I noticed when I took the bolts off that Harley doesn't locktite them from the factory so I didn't either. When I get my chrome hex bolts in I'll blue locktite'em just a dab before putting them on. Thanks for all the advice guys!
