Question FXDF Fuel gauges not working

Hello
Im trying to figure out why my fuel gauges show empty state all the time. I already checked:
- Fuel Sender - restistance 40-240 Ohms
- Fuel gauge moves when I connect it to battery
- Optically all looks fine.

Any ideas where to look for solution?

I also cant get how purple ground wire from fuel pump ends? Its goes to plastic base of pump which is slided in fuel tank mounts but in my opinion that ground wire have no connection with tank (Fuel sender ground wire connects to the tank). Can anyone confirm that?
Im asking because my fuel pump was loose in tank, and is the only one wierd think what I have found.

Regards

If you hooked the gauge up to a battery you likely fried it. A fuel gauge is literally nothing more than an ohm meter and all it does is measure resistance to ground through the sending unit, which itself is just a variable resistor. Remove the wire to the sending unit and ground the wire, if the gauge is working correctly the needle will peg at either full or empty depending on what type of gauge it is (it doesn't matter which type it is or which direction the needle moves in order to troubleshoot, just as long as it goes full one direction or the other). To test the sending unit hook one test lead of your ohm meter to ground and the other lead to the sending unit, while slowly moving the float up and down you should see a corresponding change in the resistance. Last is to make sure there is power to the gauge. That's all there is, if all three of those things are good you should have a functioning fuel gauge.
