Looked into the AIM and decided to go with a Barnett clutch and SE Kevlar plates. Took a few attempts but now itll hold in 5th. Had to use an EZ pull with the weight, other than the touchy adjustment and release point its working great.
Never tried an AIM, heard they can be tough with speed shifting but hold tight.
Hit 60 here yesterday and had the Dyna out, forgot how snappy the 107 is triple digits get on you fast. And my brakes suck. Really digging the 576 cam timing and pull, its not wheezy at 2k and it rolls out nice up top.
Well, now that I'm feeling better and my head is clear(er) I went out to do the final torquing and reassembly of the clutch/primary/clutch cable, etc. I noticed that something was very wrong with the clutch pack as once the VP clutch was torqued to spec, it flattened the clutch spring. Took things apart and found the first plate looking like this. I don't want to (or have) spend for a performance clutch so I'm just going to get OEM plates and call it good. At this point, every mechanical system on the bike (tranny, clutch basket, cam chest, jugs, pistons, heads, valves, springs, primary chain and compensator, fuel injection, etc.) has been R&R'd this winter.
+1 clutch with the judder spring and spacer in place.. May have bent more plates.
I tore the basket down, cleaned it up and put it back together. All the friction plates are undamaged and well within thickness spec and there was only the one plate that was f'd. I'll call Harley when they open and hopefully, they have them at the counter and I can get that primary buttoned up tonight and go back to the engine.
Since I am waiting for parts again, I thought I'd put my freshly powdered points cover on with my pretty chrome Colony, Torx heads (nope, ARP doesn't make anything that small). Do you not see what I not see in this pic?
I was just looking back at some of your pics of the primary chain and am hoping you reduced the length of the spring in your auto tensioner. With all that added torque your tensioner will rachet up and make a piano wire out of the chain..
Also looks like no threads in the timing cover..

Is the cover brand new? If so it probably takes a self taping screw.
Friiiiiiicccccc all the local dealers have no stock so it's going to be a week before I see one. How can you not have at least one set of clutch plates in stock at all times?
