1. Check your battery connections
2. Carefully take the switch housing apart, and look at the kill switch and see if you see any bare wire touching metal, which could ground out and cause a problem.
The fact that if you "re-cycle" the system and then it will, it willstart tells you what??? Well, it tells you that it is an intermittent problem, not a MAJOR problem, so RELAX....get a beer, ......and look at this as a challenge to find out just why the darn thing wants to play games with you
....this kind of stuff is what makes owning an H/D unique
......this kind of thing is nothing new to anyone riding a HOG made before 1984 (Shovelhead and earlier).....anyway....[&:]My guess is that you have a loose connection on the battery, on the kill switch...the wiring is fine, because if the wiring was grounding out, it wouldn't start at all....but what the hell do I know, I'm just a licensed electrician, as if that means $hit at all.[
]In short, go check your battery cables, then the switch housing for corrosion ( I SERIOUSLY doubt this, but check anyway), if it still does it, take her in on warranty. If not on warranty, then get back with me, or "us" and we'll help you out....as the dealers like to now hire dumb$hits these days....
Don't worry about it. 300 miles away from home ain't nothin'[&:].....just pull over and re-start her. Shovel-head guys are used to losing a cylinder!..... and limping home on "1 lung" (cylinder), when the timing goes off on the back cylinder,[
]............. damn I love H/D's!!!!!! Never a dull moment, and they just... pull/sound/do everything the "right way"!
If you want "perfection" buy a Honda.[:'(].......................... (PLEASE DON'T)
In all seriousness... if you REALLY need help, PM me, and I will help you all I can. This is what REAL Harley ridin' Brothers do, by the way.

I was told by my techie that this strange 'fainting disease' hit many 06 bikes. The problem was solved by changing out the main breaker. HD knows damn well that they got a load of bad main breakers. Tell the dealer to change it out and do not listen to arguments, imho.
