ELECTRICAL HELP NEEDED
Yesterday I installed the left-hand chromed lever, chromed clutch lever
support and the also chromed switch gear housing and even the chromed
buttons. All went well and went for a ride, but it looked a bit ridiculous
with one side of each. Of course horn, indicators and everything was working fine
This evening I decided to do the brake side my only concern being not to
spill any brake fluid when changing to the chromed master cylinder. Once I
did that, I started removing the old black switch gear casing; the rest was
the same as the left hand side, but decided to put the bike on the lift this
time since by then my back was killing me. It was then, when I went to start
the bike that the rear pilot light was not on, the brake light did not work,
the indicators were also dead and the horn didn't work; I think that's about
it, because I do have head light I can change Hi-Low, instruments are
illuminated and the bike primes and starts.....
Must be some silly thing, but don't even know where to start looking.
By the way all fuses are Ok (pulling one out made the alarm go off for about
5 minutes on and off) where the hell is that little siren so I can put a
pillow over it (he, he..) it's 2:30 am here in España!![:@]
Pleaseguys tell me something so I know where to look. By the way even though the
indicators don't work in the normal mode, when the alarm is reset all light
up..

Any ideas?
I just replaced my bars. I have a similiar problem. Headlight works, dim and bright. I have no turn indicators, break indicator, or horn. Hope somebody has an idea?

Thanks guys, in the end it was the accessory fuse blown, number 11 on the Dyna manual. Of course, finding the fuse is one thing and the other the short that caused it. It was fine before I started so for sure I was to blame somehow or other. It ended being the left hand switch gear; could find nothing wrong or pinched wires, but as I left it hanging without touching the bike the 5 amp fuse wire I use when I'm confronted with such happenings stopped blowing (I put a hair sized made for that purpose copper wire across the fuse pins). Anyway, I peeled the plastic cover far enough, checked all wires that fit inside and as I say found nothing. Put it back together and now it is fine. I hate those repairs where you cannot find the real cause because they can reappear in the worst moment you can think of. As for Mizzourider, I would look in the same place and get youself some of that 5 amp wire, so you don't keep burning new fuses and because 5 amp puts much less strain on your electrical system. You can also use a tester, but mine was dead ( I left it on a year ago...).[:'(]Oh one other thing, due to the problem I was not able to disarm the alarm, so I just disconnected the battery and let it scream till the module had no juice left. Now I have to reconfigure it [:@][:@]
Was afraid I would have to tear the bike apart looking for the connectors that were messed up from my bar exchange!
Thanks all,
Tim

For future reference...when these things happen, it means that the wire with power going through it is touching metal/ground. Sometimes a "jiggle" on the wire is enough to free it....to get home, or ride until it happens again. Glad "Softy" was able to help you, before I got to this thread. Don't you fellas love this site?~Joe
