Default New bars for my 16 FXDB question

I would like to put shorter bars in place of the OEM mini apes. I know about the terminals. I know about Can bus wiring. What I am curious about is what am I going to do with the extra wiring besides roll it up and stuff under the tank ? I’m kinda afraid of cutting shorter because of exact length ( can bus ) . It’s too bad it’s such a PITA I’ve heard to get wiring through bars. Suggestions.

How much extra wiring will be left over? Those stock mini apes are what, 8-19 inches? What size riser and what style bars are you going with? Once you put on a set of risers and bars on the bike it may only be a couple inches.

I changed to flat bars on my former 2011 FXDB. There were only 3 or 4 inches of extra wiring to deal with and i pulled those back under the tank into the frame cavity. Canbus really shouldn't have much to do with the length of wires AFAIK. JMHO.

It's already been said twice but I'll chime in. You won't have that much wire to deal with and then you can take a nice afternoon and a few beers, pull your tank for best clearance and clean up all the wires in the backbone of the frame. Pull them out, inspect, detangle, bundle and zip tie as appropriate and put them all back nice and snuggly. Your bike is like your woman, you should know every inch of her.

Thanks for the replies. Ok so the wires I’ll just neatly bundle and wire tie under the tank. Now I gotta figure out what bars. Mine now are OEM 10 or 11” tall. I’m thinking something about 3”-4” shorter. I don’t like tall risers. Any suggestions or pics ? I think the 2016 Dyna low rider bars ( kinda like drag w/ curved back 3-4” risers might be good what youz thinks.

I had a set very similar to those (might have been the same) on an 07 Sportster 1200 Custom.
They were on a set of 6 inch risers with a 2 inch pull back. Very comfortable and gave me the impression the steering was much tighter and quicker than my 95 Dyna with mini apes.
