...since I last checked in to HD Forums, years in fact. Life takes takes you all sorts of directions.
Anyhoo, wondering if anyone has done the TC Bros Chain conversion on thier Dyna? Is it all its cracked up to be?
My Bike (2010 FXDC) has had belt issues from about 6 months old, always squeaking, 2 pulley/belt/sprocket sets chewed through since new in 2010, and now its squeak-o-rama and chewed through the current drive again.
No dealer or indy shop has ever been able to correct the problem, and frankly i am not interested in any more apparent solutions. Ive already spent the $$ and f%king patience, Im over it, wanna go Chain. TC Bros setup looks good and would like to hear from anyone who has done the conversion.
I understand your frustration with the belt issues. The TC Bros chain conversion is a popular choice for many Dyna owners who are fed up with belt problems. Users generally report improved reliability and less maintenance hassle compared to belts. The setup is straightforward, and it can give your bike a more classic look as well. Just make sure youre comfortable with the install process or have a good mechanic lined up. It could be a solid solution for your ongoing issues.
Im curious what would cause all those belt issues.
The OEM belts are damn near bulletproof. Is your motor built? A stock belt on a moderately modified motor should last at least 100k miles.
Im wondering if theres some other issue going on, like wheel alignment or swingarm problems.

There quite probably is some other issue going on, but no one has been able to identify it, and Im done throwing time and money at it. Been a problem since the bike was about 6 months old, belt always squeaking when off the gas or engine breaking. After 30k miles the belt is worn out, rear wheel pulley teeth are trashed, and front sprocket shows excessive wear as well. 3 different MoCo dealers and 4 Indy shops havent been able to fix it. Everything measures up and aligns correctly, yet here I am about 30K after the second set of pulley/belt/sproket getting ready to install a third set.
The Chain conversion is about 100 Bucks cheaper for the Kit & Chain than replacement OEM parts, so even if the problem manifests differently with a chain setup, its still cheaper to fix.
Ive a little over 100K miles on the clock, engine was built from a 96 to a 103ci 20K ish miles ago, nothing massivley over powered than stock.

Unless something more expensive breaks...
I don't have a lot of experience with belt drives, but, I would think that "rear wheel pulley teeth are trashed" would not be usual and would point to the cause.
I suppose pulley runout has been checked at least once.

Everything has been checked mutiple times, by multiple shops and multiple so called experts and specialists.....
