If you can stick a feeler in where the red line is, it's not that bad. Clearance should be 0.020"- 0.040"



As the mount collapses the gap disappears and the weight of the engine sits on the domed part. Vibration goes up noticeably.

If that's oil holding all that grit to it, then I don't expect it will stay good for long!

Here's a bad one.

Agreed. If it's in that condition there are probably a lot of potential issues that haven't been discovered yet...

OP- do you change your own oil? If so, cover that whole area with some aluminum foil or get one of those long funnels that direct the oil away from that area. Thatll keep the oil from spilling out of the oil filter and all over your motor mount.

Clean it with some degreaser right there and kill that weed at the same time

This^. Oil will degrade the rubber in the motor mount. Swap out that mount and keep oil off the new one.
