Yes - another vibration thread for everyone to suffer thru! Sorry in advance
I put on V&H BSS about 1500 miles ago - never really cared for the sound regardless of baffle, but they sure looked good. For a while I've noticed a vibration at certain rpms - the bike hits some resonance and vibrates, lasts for a range of RPM, then at higher rpm it goes away - it's not dramatic - just annoying.
I couldn't remember if my old setup with the SEII slipons acted the same. Went back to the SEII setup - reprogrammed the PCIII. VIBRATION GONE!
Has anyone else noticed that the pipes and exhaust significantly affect the vibration, both at idle RPM and then at some other resonant RPM?
The unfortunate thing about the BSS is they made the vibration the worst right at where I wanted to be riding - around 40-46mph in 3rd gear, 50 - 56 mph in 4th gear, etc. They are never going back on my bike.
I'm sure I'll get butt-slammed for my opinion herebut I've yet to heara V&H system I like. I ride with a dude with a set of long shots on his '99 Night Train; they cackle to the point where we ask him to ride in the back of the pack. I've ridden the bike but don't have anything to compare it to, vibration-wise.Lots of folks run them; must be something I'm missing - I muchperfer a quality exhaust note-true SEs, Rhineharts, Thunderheaders, etc...I realize my reply had nothing to do w/ your vibration issue...

When I bought the BSS - I really liked the look - and so many had them - how bad could they be? Well - I learned the hard way. Besides the look I never enjoyed them for one day. Even the quiet baffles wore on me - even on short rides. The sound and performance of the SEII really blows the BSS away, add in my vibration issue ....... they can't get by on looks alone.
I agree Boggie & Glide... They just sound loud to me but there missing the tone of like the Reinharts and a few others. TheReinhart 2 into 1 is the best I've heard.. Excludeing all previous Shovels,Pans, and some of the early EVO's..
The BSS do look good though
I haven't really noticed any added vibrations or such. This is my first HD, so I may not be the one to ask. I do teend to agree with you guys on the pipes though. I ride with 2 girls on Sporty's, and they have the V&H HS slip-ons, and I think they sound better than my BSS. It's a deeper throatier sound. I have noticed with my BSS, that after a few hours of riding, my right eardrum feels a little numb.
yes - I am going to sell them - but if you have a 2006 as indicated in your profile - mine won't fit your bike - mine is a 2005 - big changes after that. too bad - based on your zip - you're only 1/2 hour away.
