Second the Kuryakyn ISO Grips. I still get the sleeping finger thing once in a while on a long ride. Say 2 hrs in the saddle of straight cruising with no stops, gear changes or any other reason to move my hands around.
Give them a try. They work and they dress up the look at the same time.
I found after putting on polyurethane riser bushings (which allow more vibes to travel up the bars) my right hand tended to go a bit numb until I realized I was gripping the throttle too tight - as soon as I relaxed my grip when cruising it went a way - and gel gloves help, too.
I had that problem until I realized my right glove was too tight...
I like snug fitting work gloves, so I thought my riding gloves fit great...
I got one size larger and now it is much better.....
Look at your wrist position. If you are riding with your wrists angle upward so that your hands approach the grips from above, then you are probably restricting the circulation to your fingers. It's really tempting to ride this way, especially with ape hangers. It kind of looks cool; it kind of feels cool. Until your fingers fall off, then, not so cool.
Try to keep your wrists straight.
I agree, make sure your wrists are in the correct position.
