Back in Jan I bought an 07 Street bob. I rode for a month and then headed off to work. I recently returned, added new pipes and clothing. The problem is whenever I ride for a long period of time my fingers go numb. Any advice would be appreciated, I've increased, reduced grip, no change, Thanks.
It could be the speed you're travelling at. I find I get this quite a lot when riding around near home, but when I went on a long ride at higher cruising speed it didn't happen so I guessed it was to do with vibes at particular engine speed.
Look at your wrist position. If you are riding with your wrists angle upward so that your hands approach the grips from above, then you are probably restricting the circulation to your fingers. It's really tempting to ride this way, especially with ape hangers. It kind of looks cool; it kind of feels cool. Until your fingers fall off, then, not so cool.
It may be your ulnar nerve being pinched. Try adjusting your levers to assure your wrists are not in a extreme bend when in your natural riding position. Sometimes the levers make your wrists bend too far and can make the fingers tingle. It does not cost anything to try rotating the handlebar controls a bit. As a former sportbike rider, that was a frequet complaint and this fix helped a lot. Good luck.
do you have trouble any other time with your hands ? if you do it could be carpel- tunnel or like it has been said your handel bars or it could be the gripes.it could be alot of things . i know not much help.you got to try differnt things no easy answer.
Its poor circurlation, carpo tunnel,i dont know how old you are but could be age, I am 54 so i think it might be my age, mine dose that all the time, like sitting at the computer, riding my bike driving,Dr told me try a asprian a day, dose not help,so i just am trying to get used to it bummmer because i love to ride.
On all the old triumphs I've had, thats ( unfortunately ) been part of the experience. I've had to shake 'em out as I go andstop every hour or so. It really sucks, takes a lot of the fun out. For me, it's kind of like endurance training, the more I do the longer I can go but it sure took a while.
I hope it gets better for you soon.
