I own an '07 Street Bob and just had a close look at an '08 yesterday. I noticed the following differences: chrome belt guard, revised rear brake caliper, different handlebar clamps with less rise but retained black cables (not the advertised upgraded braided lines). Can't speak to any internal changes. I believe once purchased, you can take your ride to any dealer of your choice for servicing.
I went into a shop here in dallas to get a 07 bob, and ended up leaving with a 06 for 2500 less plus an extended warranty (347 miles on it)...really wanted a 96 ci but i am pleased with the 88ci....after a while i plan to big bore anyway.......anyway id go with the 07 for less money....that leaves more cash for all the mods youre gonna want
Well i went in yesterday and put a deposit down on the 07. My usual salesman at the other dealer wouldn't come down any on the 08. And to my surprise the salesman at the "bad" dealer turned out to be a decent guy and i didnt feel mistreated. He let me put a refundable deposit down to hold the bike while i wait for the sale of my old 05 FLHTCI to go through. I factored in any loss of value (not that it matters much since i'm not planning on selling any time soon). With the $500 off MSRP and the waiving of freight/set up it was still a better deal with the 07.
Its going to be a big change to go from riding the old couch on wheels (electra glide) to the bob and im really looking forward to it. The glide was great if i was hitting the highway. But i dont get much time for that any more with work and all and riding that behemoth around town is a chore! The bob is just what i've been looking for!
They did have a denim blue 08 on the floor. I have to say that color looked pretty sweet. The integrated risers didn't look awful but they'll limit your handlebar choices in the future. I didnt see any braided lines. The chrome belt guard to me didnt go with the rest of the bike. It looked like an afterthought to try and snazz up the bike.
70Mach.. the dealer i dealt with yesterday have an 07 low on the floor i believe. I'm in Buffalo, NY. It was that two tone suede blue/ vivid black. It was $500 off MSRP so it was still almost $16k. You're getting a hell of a deal at $13,800!
Yeah there are dealers out there at $1500 or $2000 off 07 MSRP. Though the Bobs have sold really well in this area (Buffalo) and there just aren't any 07s around. I had a dealer friend look on the HD locator and the closest he found was down by NYC which is 500 miles away....and it was more expensive. So i'm cool with $13,400 with security system installed and the freight/set up fee waived. For once i feel like i got a "deal" when buying a harley. This makes the 4th bike i've bought and the first three didn't give me that feeling.. so i'm happy which is all that matters to me. Now i'm anxious to get it!
