I'd actually prefer MORE shake in my Dyna at idle, provided that it didn't mean I'd have to have more vibration at higher revs. I like how my bikeshakes and thumpsat idle and low speeds and then smooths out nicely out on the highway. When I get on the bike and fire it up, it feels like it's jumping to life and just wants to run. One of the reasons I sold my BMW after I got my HD was that the relative smoothness of the engine just didn't strike a chord with me. Oh, and neither my fingers or toes get the least bit numbed by vibration while riding my Dyna. My Sportster on the other hand made my fingers feel like a pack of hot dogs!
I like the Softys too, and can certainly understand why lots of folks prefer them. They're beautiful bikes and some people prefer that super smooth B motor. Personally, I'd like to have one of each!
And those of you who are honest about your Dyna's would say you'd prefer a little less shake at idle
I have been honest about every post since I became a member. I could care less if the bike had less shake at idle. It looks worse than it feels. I noticed this when I rode with my dad (WG also) and we were at a stop light. I asked if mine shook as bad as his and he said yes. Yes, the mirrors vibrate at idle, but once I let the clutch out the vibes go away and the mirror is steady.
I only have 5k miles on this year, and the only thing that ever went numb was my **** on the stock seat. Once I installed the Mustang seat, no complaints/problems. My toes/fingers never went numb. My brother has a fatboy and his hands go numb all the time. It's just him -not the bike. His hands went numb when he rode the Yamaha we started on.
