Default RE: Front End clunk

KB,
I have a 03 FXDWG the clunk showed up every where small bumps,RR tracks, hard front wheel breaking. I didn't check my tank or stand but, found a web thread www.kenandjudy.us/Harley%20Pictures/WideGlideClunk/index.htm on Google. Now this didn't take me directly to their web site but, on Google look for the msn web site. That will take you to the discusion thread & one of the lower responces you will see this web address. I did what he said & it has virtualy eliminated my "wide glide clunk". I have some real concerns about Harley's fix all byincreasing torque values.

My jiffy stand also had the rubber piece way out of alignment. I could tell because when I would kick it back up it would clangwith a metallic soundinstead ofmaking a dull thud like it was hitting rubber.I looked at another Street Bob to see where it was supposed to be, then I scooted it back and rotated it to where it was supposed to be. I wonder why so many people have this problem? Where they not installed properly from the factory or does the rubber piece move over time?

I guessI better check my gas tank and make sure it is secure also.
I think the rubber bumper tends to get moved out of the way during servicing (oil change). I know I usually end up moving mine out of the way when I remove the engine oil drain plug. Just gotaa remember to rotate it back in place. Good idea to check this after dealer service.
Also to note: If you seem to be having difficulty finding the kickstand with your foot (to put it down), the bumper is probably out of whack.
Any number of things can cause the KS bumper to move out of position.
