I'm at the same point, a little over 1000 miles and was thinking, "no problem, I'll do it myself".
I have always done my own maintenance on all vehicles.
But I now have a dilema, I need to take the bike back to Harley, as I have developed a couple of problems. I've got an oil leak on top of tranmission (gasket), front end is loose (too much play).
So should I fork over the dough while they are fixing my other problems, and hope they find whatever else could be wrong, or do it myself, then take it in and hope they don't say, "buddy, we would have done that during a scheduled maintenance, it's your problem now.
thats a tough question travlinman, I guess it just depends on your wallet. But i dont think that the dealer can refuse to look at something like an oil leak, even if you do you own service. Im not sure though, maybe somebody with more experience will chime in.
